Founder & Medical Director
Ryan D. Schulteis
MD
Dr. Schulteis's path to longevity medicine is rooted in both clinical experience and personal insight. Through years of caring for complex patients—and navigating his own health challenges—he developed a more comprehensive approach to optimizing health and performance.
Dr. Schulteis grew up in Hartford, Wisconsin, and studied biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, earning a master's degree in physiology and genomics. He attended Duke University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Duke University Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident.
Throughout his career in hospital medicine, he treated medically complex patients and published over a dozen peer-reviewed articles while serving as Chief of Clinical Informatics at the Durham VA Hospital.
Personal health challenges, including May-Thurner syndrome and cervical disc disease, shaped his belief that optimal medicine combines prevention, optimization, and innovation.
At Carolina Longevity, he emphasizes healthspan—years of strength and independence—alongside lifespan, providing patients comprehensive medical evaluation alongside physical and manual therapy assessments.
