Strength & Conditioning Coach, Women's Health
Tina Acker-Walsh
Tina Acker-Walsh has spent 14 years coaching clients through complex musculoskeletal and clinical conditions, with a specialty in women navigating perimenopause and post-menopause. She also brings significant experience working with older adults, helping clients of all ages build strength that is both measurable and functional.
Over the course of her career, Tina has designed individualized programming spanning post- surgical recovery, post traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and cancer recovery to metabolic conditions like Type 2 diabetes and hypertension. While her primary specialty is women in perimenopause and post-menopause, she also brings deep experience coaching older adults, addressing the bone density, balance, and fall-risk considerations that come with aging. She works closely with clients' physicians and physical therapists to fold clinical guidance directly into her programming.
Tina holds a B.A. in Exercise Science, Summa Cum Laude, from Concordia University, and is currently pursuing an M.P.H. in Nutrition at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. A committed lifelong learner, she is constantly researching and incorporating new exercise protocols into her practice, ensuring her programming stays grounded in the latest evidence. She's especially passionate about one of the most frustrating parts of the menopause transition: the weight fluctuations so many women experience despite doing "everything right". Her approach is grounded in the evidence that building muscle is one of the most effective tools for managing those changes, and in the belief that these women were never doing something wrong; they simply didn't have the information to understand what was happening in their bodies.
Tina believes every "body" has evolved to move, and that everybody deserves the chance to move more and move better, no matter their age or starting point. It's a philosophy backed by results: many of her clients have stayed with her since the very beginning of her career.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tina attended UNC Charlotte as a nationally ranked Division I softball athlete. When she's not coaching, she enjoys seeing live concerts, traveling with her wife, Susan, and her son, Aidan, playing with her two Labradoodles, and watching her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
